The consultations at national and regional level would be informed by evidence-based analysis, taking stock of the MIPAA implementation status and the situation of older persons across Asia and the Pacific. These include the following:
- A comprehensive survey on MIPAA implementation has been administered to ESCAP Member States and associate members. The survey consists of quantitative and qualitative questions on the different thematic focus areas of the MIPAA and include areas of progress, obstacles, policy priorities, and emerging issues. It also takes into account synergies between MIPAA and the SDGs.
- Countries may also wish to use their national consultations to validate survey responses and prepare a national report on implementation of MIPAA based upon the survey responses.
- Thematic reports will be produced on specific issues related to MIPAA. Currently three papers are under development: (a) Human resource requirements for meeting the needs of an ageing society; (b) Availability and use of appropriate technology to enhance the access of older persons to services, including health and long-term care services; (c) Gender dimensions of ageing in the Asia-Pacific region.
- A regional review report will be prepared, which will consist of the analysis of survey results and additional quantitative and qualitative research to supplement them, and aim to provide a comprehensive picture of the status of older persons in the regionto serve as the main analytical base for the regional review.
A Parliamentary report on MIPAA and the 2030 Agenda will also be prepared.
