- National review consultations will be held in 2016 and 2017 with a view to providing comprehensive, participatory and accurate responses to the MIPAA survey and to shaping national ageing policy. These would be structured using the guidelines for bottom-up participatory national reviews prepared by DESA. ESCAP and all UN partners will support national Governments in the organization of consultations through the provision of technical support, and will encourage and facilitate the active involvement of civil society actors in the review process.
- ESCAP and its partners may also support sub-regional consultations. A preparatory expert consultation will be held from 6 – 7 June 2017 to discuss the agenda, preparations and the outcome document for the regional review meeting.
- Intergovernmental meeting of Member States and associate members convened by ESCAP in Bangkok from 12 – 14 September 2017 to review progress and challenges faced by countries in the region in the implementation of MIPAA and to agree on a regional framework of action to support countries in this regard. This meeting is expected to be attended at the ministerial level.
